Over 10,000 young people were in Strasbourg for the annual European Youth Event, sharing and shaping ideas on Europe’s future.

Many thousands more joined online for the event, organised by the European Parliament, which is a unique opportunity for 16-30 year-olds to influence the policy-making processes affecting their lives.

Participants took part in activities designed with the help of various international institutions and organisations, including youth bodies, and with an eye on the 2024 European elections, there was a strong focus on the themes of democracy and youth engagement. Ideas collated from the event will all be collected in a Youth Ideas Report distributed to all Members of the European Parliament (MEPs).

Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament, posted on her Twitter account @EP_President – “Amazing to see our Europarl_EN full of young people today in Strasbourg at the #EYE2023

‘Inspirational, Amazing, Life-changing’ were the words used by the European Parliament itself to describe the two-day event, which took place on June 9-10.
